Interstate 64 work begins May 11

The Illinois Department of Transportation announces today that that eastbound Interstate 64 at Illinois 158 (exit 19A) will be intermittently restricted to two lanes beginning at midnight Monday, May 11, weather permitting.

In addition, the on-ramp from southbound Illinois 158 to eastbound I-64 and the off-ramp from eastbound I-64 to northbound IL 158 will be closed utilizing a marked detour. The closures are required to make pavement repairs, which are expected to be completed by Saturday, May 16.

Motorists should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.

Updates on the impacts to traffic are available at http://stl-traffic.org.
